Accurate and Reliable People Height Measurements
2M is creating a clinical grade advanced contactless height measurement sensor intended to measure the body length of humans and to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI) of users.
Ultrasonic sensing
Ultrasonic sensing technology is at the heart of our contactless height measurement sensor, offering precise, reliable measurements without the need for physical contact. This technology works by emitting ultrasonic waves towards the target object or surface, measuring the time it takes for the sound waves to bounce back. The sensor then calculates the distance based on the speed of sound in the air, allowing for accurate height measurements.
One of the significant advantages of using ultrasonic sensors is their ability to function in various environments, including those where traditional measurement tools might struggle, such as areas with dust, light interference, or other challenging conditions. This makes them particularly well-suited for industrial, medical, and consumer applications where precision and reliability are crucial.
Designed for seamless integration
The contactless height measurement sensor consisting of 3 ultrasonic sensors and the user interface are seamlessly integrated into the pole, creating a streamlined, standalone device that requires no additional components for operation. This design allows the device to function independently or as part of a larger health kiosk setup, offering flexibility in deployment and use. The integration ensures that all necessary functions are contained within the pole, simplifying installation and operation in various healthcare environments.

Technical Specifications
- Height measurement range: 150cm and 200cm.
- BMI measurement: calculate the BMI when the weight of a user is known.
- Accuracy: ±1cm (user is standing still and upright).

Certifications
The sensing technology is based on ultrasonic wave technology. The solution also calculates Body Mass Index (BMI) based on the measured height and weight collected from another medical device. The contactless height sensor is currently not medically or CE certified.
At 2M Engineering, we offer comprehensive services for CE certification of medical devices, ensuring that your product meets all necessary regulatory standards. We also provide production capabilities in accordance with ISO 13485, which specifies the requirements for a quality management system in the design and manufacture of medical devices. This allows us to support you throughout the entire process, from initial design to final production, ensuring that your medical device is both compliant and produced to the highest standards of quality.
Current Status
Currently the alpha prototype of the contactless height measurement sensor has been created and verification measurements have been executed. De alpha prototype is integrated in the health kiosk for hospital installation for the validation test with patients.
