UPRIGHT Posture Correction & Cueing Device for Parkinson
A device supporting self training to improve posture and mobility for Parkinson patients
UPRIGHT Posture Correction & Cueing Device for Parkinson patients is a highly advanced solution that enables and assists Parkinson patients in improving their daily mobility. UPRIGHT corrects posture by alerting Parkinson patients when their posture deviates excessively from an upright position. Different warning angles can be set by care givers for forwards and sideways posture. The UPRIGHT also improves mobility and reduces freezes using cueing signals (metronome or rhythmic vibration). The cueing frequency (in beats per minute) can be adjusted to the needs of each individual patient. The benefit of such cueing signals has been medically validated by the VU University Medical Center in Amsterdam.

The UPRIGHT software application allows the care giver to upload the individual patient settings into the UPRIGHT device. It is a small lightweight device which can be worn underneath or over normal day to day clothes and is powered by rechargeable batteries. Optionally the UPRIGHT provides an option for care givers to store relevant information. For example a patient’s physical activity level or chest angle may be stored over a period of time to obtain objective insight into how active a patient is during their daily life.
