2M Engineering has done multiple projects focused on providing intelligent sensor games for children. These projects have concentrated on making children more active in today’s modern world of games. Sensor games add a new dimension to PC gaming, street play grounds or theme parks attractions. Concepts range from implementing new creative ideas for brand new games to using modern technological innovations in new ways to liven up the experience of the existing games. There are plenty of older games that can be revamped and enriched using new technologies, resulting in completely new possibilities. In short, to bring old favourites for example: monopoly or scrabble, into the 21st century.
Technologies like sensors, actuators, interconnectivity and controls can be applied to games with simple, straightforward rules. The game can have the added benefit of being fully personalized for individual or group use. Sensor games can also be complex and challenging for an older generation. It is an application that can be utilised by any age bracket in the games industry.
One of the greatest benefits of these games is the fun solution it provides to the growing epidemic of obesity in the world. Evidence of this lies in research carried out by the TNO that states that one in ten Dutch ten year olds are too heavy. Our sensor games for children provide a fun way for our youngsters to become physically more active. 2M Engineering works on realization of new, fun ideas and creative concepts based on the philosophy of children playing more actively and more socially together. This social element of our sensor games is also of high importance as a child needs social interaction to grow and adapt to the different situations he or she will come across.
