Non-invasive glucose monitoring for diabetics

VHS 300x221 Non invasive glucose2M is actively developing a solution for non-invasive glucose monitoring. This will aim to use new laser technology. Diabetes is an rapidly growing chronic disease with dramatic effects and causes a severe burden on those effected. At the moment there is no known cure for Diabetes. To reduce the severity of the problem 2M Engineering aims to give patients better tools for self-management of their situation.  Today there are around 220 million people globally diagnosed with diabetes. The main growth comes from diabetes type 2. This is often caused by a unhealthy lifestyle; too little exercise and too much of the wrong type of food. Managing diabetes is a must to prevent further complications and to provide a better quality of life for suffers. Research  by Newman and Turner in 2005 showed that it is necessary for diabetics to monitor their glucose levels consistently. This must be done multiple times a day to manage glucose levels properly. Most diabetics however don’t do this for a number of reasons. Patients complain that the process is often painful, causes infection, is not appealing or is troublesome. As consequence people on average measure themselves about one time a day. Solutions that increase easy glucose measurement compliance would help in better management of diabetes.

Research executed by 2M Engineering indicates that non-invasive measuring techniques suffered from not having the right technological components to detect the glucose levels properly. Therefore in 2007 we started to develop a new laser to overcome this problem. The new laser aims to detect glucose levels accurately and with out fail. This will enable suffers to lead a better quality of life by monitoring their condition easily. By monitoring the condition easily possible complications shall be detected early.
The first test results of our experiments with this new laser have met our expectations. These results have therefore indicated that it can successfully be applied for non-invasive measurement of glucose levels.
