Combining unmet market needs with technological possibilities and knowhow can lead to innovative solutions and products. 2M Engineering has in-house marketing capabilities to identify such unmet needs and translate and drive these all the way to a final product solution. Products can be end products, sub modules, reference or application designs or patents.
Conception
Generation of a new idea, new business or new product concept is what is called the conception phase. Where the inspiration comes from is irrelevant. It can begin with a wild new product idea, a problem observed in daily life or a vision for a new revolutionary technology for which applications need to be found. During short intensive brainstorming sessions we are able to assess, enrich or discard business opportunities fairly quickly. Once we have identified a new opportunity which fits our business criteria, we follow more structured market research methods to assess its potential. Starting with assessing the market segment, competitors, mapping target groups, and clarifying the real needs of those groups we work step by step to a final, enriched and tested product concept, all the time optimizing and ensuring technical and economical feasibility.
Product creation
Product creation includes all that is needed to come to a final, sellable and useful product, including development and test of all technical functions, industrial design, manufacturing, quality, logistics, price, product approvals (like CE, FDA, MDD), marketing communication, manual, accessories and so on. We are experienced in multi-site product development and outsourcing across Europe, US and Asia. We maintain good relations with various manufacturing partners in China and Eastern Europe and have wide experience in supplier and subcontractor selection, contracting and building and maintaining long term, stable relationships. After the initial product creation and factory transfer we can, on request, also support manufacturing processes using statistical methods to improve yield or product quality. Furthermore we can define next generations and future possibilities by road mapping technology and products.
Commercialization
Commercialization involves everything to turn project results into profitable, sustainable businesses. This is preferably done via our marketing and sales partner network, however we also sell and advertise our own products online and do initial sales via leading opinion leaders within their field of competence. Commercialization includes creating strategic marketing plans, executing targeted marketing and sales initiatives for 2M branded products, contracting and customer support. We have a preference to execute marketing and sales via experienced partners with existing networks so that we can stay focused on our core strength of innovation, instead of having to spend much time and energy on managing an operational business. The reason is that business management and innovation management are different things each requiring different skill sets and organizational set-ups. We add most value by focusing on innovation and new application development.
